Shark Tent

Owen, being the lucky little boy he is, got the most awesome shark tent from Oliver and Jack for his birthday. It is probably the cutest tent I have come across. Although it takes up a good portion of our living/dining rooms, we've had it up for several days now because the babe seems to thoroughly enjoy crawling in and out and taking his tractor and favorite book inside to play. I had a tough time getting a good shot of him in the shark because he was so engrossed in his play that I couldn't get him to look at me. Oh well, you get the idea.

P.S. We would put the tent outside so Owen could enjoy it in its rightful place, but the mosquitoes are so bad we've basically been trapped inside for the last week. Even with bug spray and a mosquito magnet, it's still unbearable! One evening this week we walked outside to look at our garden and within maybe 45 seconds, C.J. had at least 10 mosquitoes on one single hand. Seriously, it's horrible!

Umm...

Yeah...so today we visited my Mom and Dad's church since there was extra family in town.  I think we've taken Owen there once since he was born.  But while we were visiting after the service, a woman who I've known my whole life seriously came up to me, pointed to my stomach and said "so when is this next one due?"  Ok, I am fully aware that I have a whole whole bunch of extra baby fat that I need to lose, but seriously?  And my response: "ummmm...no baby yet.  Maybe in a few years."  And then she goes, "oh no, I hesitated to ask.  You're sure handling this well"....what the heck am I supposed to say?  Uh, I'm glad I still look pregnant a year after my child was born?  A little word to the wise:  NEVER ask a woman if she is pregnant unless she is either obviously 9 months and about to pop or you know for a fact that she is expecting.  I mean, if there is even a TINY hint of doubt, DON'T DO IT!!!  That's all...I just needed to vent.  Seriously?

The Party

Although Owen's birthday was on Friday, we actually had his party yesterday. It turned out to be a lovely day outside, which was nice considering that it rained Friday and today. But Owen got spoiled rotten and we had a ton of fun with our guests. Here are a few pictures... Sadly, I didn't manage to get any pictures of Leah's boys since they had to leave early, but I will post some of them ASAP. Thanks to all of you who came to the party. We are SOOO blessed by all of the wonderful family and friends we have!

The cake topper...there's a reason why the whole cake isn't shown.

At first, he wasn't quite sure...

But he quickly figured out how it's done!

About this pic of Allison:
all I need to say is what happened to our little girl? Just the other day she was running around in her diaper, and now she is an absolutely beautiful young girl.

A wonderful day to celebrate...

Exactly one year ago right now, our blessed little baby was making his way into this world.  I seriously can not believe how quickly it has gone, but this little guy has added more joy to our lives than we ever could have imagined!  Owen, we love you more than you can know...
Happy Birthday!!!

P.S.  Happy Birthday to Auntie Allison, too!

Anxiously waiting...

Fun with the Cousins

Today was quite an exciting day in our neck of the woods. Oliver, Holland, and Jack were over to play and Owen thoroughly enjoyed having playmates. The boys got to play in a mud puddle for the first time (thanks to the convincing of Grandma...they probably wouldn't have been so lucky had only their mamas been around) and then they got to eat their first popsicles! And by "boys" I mean the OLDER boys. Jack will probably join the mud fun next year. Holland missed out on the messiness but joined in the playing after her nap. Here are some pics of the day:

(these were taking during the typical nap time, so the boys have pretty dazed looks)

This is on here for 2 reasons:
1. Proof that he does, in fact, crawl in addition to scooting now.
2. So you all can enjoy the diaper.

Counting down the minutes...

I know most of these posts are pretty much about Owen, but I do actually have something else that is worth writing about:

CARRIE UNDERWOOD CONCERT IN EXACTLY 3 DAYS!!!

You seriously have no idea how excited I am!

Finally...

We've been waiting and waiting for it to get hot enough to wear shorts, play outside all day, play with the hose, etc. And after the stinking longest and coldest spring, it's finally starting to feel like summer. Today, Owen and Mama pretty much spent the entire day outside. Owen got to run through the sprinkler for the first time (actually, Mama held him and would run in and out when Owen would say "g", his version of "go")....he was pretty happy about that. Here are a couple pics of the babe playing today:

Ok, so he still loves his ball. In fact, he for some reason really loves to just lay on it.
He spends quite a bit of time just like this:

P.S. Owen is showing you hold old he is going to be.

Two years ago today...

Just wanted to say "Happy Anniversary" to an incredible husband! The first 2 years have been better than I ever could have imagined, and I'm looking forward to the many more to come! I love you!

His latest...

We've been working on some new things with Owen lately...and boy is he like a sponge. He has certainly started to get very animated and full of personality, which is SOOOOOOO fun to see! Today Grandpa and Grandma stopped by for a few minutes and Owen was in full entertainer mode. I'm pretty sure he pulled out all of the stops just to impress them. I am attaching a clip of something he learned just today that got quite a response from the crew...and the little guy just soaked up all of the attention:

Something so simple...

Today we got Owen his first ball. Ok, so he already had a football, but this is his first round ball that he can actually roll around. It's one of those super cheap balls that you see in huge cages at Target and such...you know, the ones that usually look like blue or purple clouds and you either have to squeeze the ball through the side or pop it out the top. But anyway, this particular ball has the alphabet on it and is extremely bright and ugly....but HE LOVES IT!!! When he saw it in the store, he got super excited so I let him hold it. And then he squealed with delight and patted his ball and smiled at it the whole rest of the shopping trip, so I decided it would probably be worth the $2.98 investment. Here is a little clip of him enjoying his new ball at home with Daddy. In this clip you will also get a little taste of C.J.'s incredible talent of improv singing....I swear he can think up a little ditty about absolutely anything in .2 seconds. I love these boys...

Oh yeah...

I forgot to mention that Owen has started to love vehicles of all types. This weekend we got to watch a helicopter land on top of a truck over and over (he was spraying the fields and was landing on top of the truck to refill). Owen was very excited about the helicopter and kept moving his arm around and around like the prop (although he won't do it on command for anyone besides us). He also does the "honk honk" motion to any truck that he hears or sees driving by our house, which means he does it all day long. The pic above is of Oliver and Owen driving the loader. Oliver has always LOVED tractors, and it's fun to see Owen turning into such a boy, too!

Somebody's back...

and has returned in full force! We found Lego Man...he was hiding in a boat that Owen plays with in the bath. And I just need to say that he is being put to good use. Owen has lugged him around the house all day...primarily via the mouth!

This is how excited he is that Lego Man is back!

Family Affection

Ok, so yesterday Oliver came over to our house to play before we all went to the local auction last night. Keep in mind that Oliver and Owen are REALLY good friends...they love playing together and often are quite affectionate. In fact, Oliver often comes up to Owen and sits on his lap while Owen is sitting on the floor playing. We're not really sure why he does this, but we just assume it's a sign of affection. And Owen these days has started to love giving kisses. So here is a little taste of Owen and Oliver enjoying one another's company...

It all started with the boys sitting on C.J.'s lap reading:

Then Owen and Oliver started to snuggle:

Which led to some pretty cute cousinly affection:

And then Owen wanted to kiss Oliver over and over:

All was well until Oliver got scolded for being a little to rough with his cuddling.
Apparently Owen didn't like it that Oliver got in trouble:
