Alli has been challenging me lately to join her in "Photo Friday," a project dedicated to deliberately working on photography skills and documenting that improvement over time. At the same time, we have been discussing the many different photography styles out there. I feel like I have sort of gotten into a rut in my photography, probably because I generally stick to what I feel comfortable with and do well: close-ups of people. However, I have found that I love photos that can tell a story, where you see the broader picture. So, in an attempt to capture those wider framed story telling images, I have embarked on my "Everyday Moments" quest (an idea I also stole from Alli. Thanks Al.) I normally would't have even attempted the photo above; there's a bright window behind him, he's in neon yellow jammies, and there's just generally a lot going on the the picture. But, it's honest. It means something to me. And I'm glad I tried it, because it freezes a moment in time and captures my boy in his own little world, an image that I always want to remember. And that, there, is what I hope to accomplish more in capturing our everyday moments.

Nice job! You made that look easy.
Love this idea...I like what you said about it being "honest." So much of the photog we all enjoy all over social media feels glossy mag-esque and not representative of real life! Keep up the great job! I sure love these slices of life! -ss
P.S. If I could, I'd launch a Get Real Campaign and I'd begin with the curse of perfectionism, or "death by self" as my blogosphere "friend" termed it.
